En la boca del lobo

GRANADA (2021)
With the gymkhana effect, we slide our finger to the right, answer some questions that will give us a direction to enter the lion's den. As Adriana Royo comments in Falos y falacias, we have accelerated our seduction processes as a result of the new tools, almost as if it were a gymkhana. The production of serotonin and dopamine when we receive a match and the instantaneousness of the medium produces an instant addiction and an increase in the need to please and please others. The ease of the medium and its videogame-like appearance has even provoked a sense of dystopia of reality, where meeting and flirting, almost like a bird of paradise, is already in danger of extinction in its physical form. Everything has been reduced to 3 or 6 photos, your personal information, your name, your age, your location and a brief bio where you include something like: Filled out. Hairy. Passive. Top. No pen or partner looking for bi or trans girl for new experiences. Short texts where you reveal from if you like Harry Potter and you are from Gryffindor house to if you have a foot fetish. Intimacies that are exposed as if it were a market stall, all at the service of the capitalist system of fast and efficient consumption.

During this process of swipe, match, chat and meet, when the time comes for the last step of the meet, the digital barrier is broken. A process where you meet reality and its consequences. You follow the map drawn to the meeting place chased by worries and nerves. Maps drawn to different destinations, and different shapes. Maps that Javi Chochonabo (Madrid, 1994) tells us about through his project En la boca del lobo (In the wolf's mouth). Pieces such as Un poco más, en cualquier momento or Sinfonía de Gagapopper and his previous sketches tell us about these traced maps that we trace until we reach our destination, our meet. He tells us about this process through the forms and the sensorial artificial materials, from the industrial of the pvc tube paths to his contrast of the warmth of sound and light. Javi transports us to these encounters through a voyeuristic experience on the part of the viewer, almost bordering on audiolagnia. A transfer of intimacy from a room to the exhibition hall, a decontextualisation of a delicate and curated exhibitionism that provokes us to empathise and even to live an experience not lived before in our own skin, we enter the lion's den. Influenced by Lara Ruiz, Vito Aconcci, Abel Azcona and Santi Ruiz, Javi Chononabo is an emerging multidisciplinary artist who in this project strips naked and shares with us his most intimate project.
