Cántico. Lo profundo es el aire.
Ñaco Fabré - Caixa Forum Palma
CaixaForum Palma, Mallorca, Spain
Curated by Raquel Victoria
At a time when speed and noise seem to dominate everything, Ñaco Fabré reclaims contemplation as an act of resistance.
Cántico. Lo profundo es el aire is an exhibition about what is essential: time, memory, and the capacity of art to create meaning.
The exhibition takes its title from a verse in Más allá, a poem included in Jorge Guillén’s Cántico (1928), one of the masterpieces of twentieth-century Spanish poetry. In this verse, the poet expresses a luminous paradox: what seems lightest and most intangible-air, breath, the experience of being in the world—is also what is deepest and most essential. Fabré embraces this tension and translates it into the exhibition space.
Through painting, sculpture, and works on paper, the exhibition offers a journey in which different artistic languages interact naturally, inviting visitors to engage with a creative process that transcends the purely visual.
Curated by Raquel Victoria Rodríguez López, the exhibition constructs a narrative around the passage of time, memory, and the creative act itself. It is an invitation to pause amid the relentless pace imposed by contemporary life and to ask ourselves, with the same radical simplicity as Guillén, what it means to be here.
Ñaco Fabré (Palma, 1965) studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in his hometown before broadening his artistic perspective in Venice, London, and Paris. Since his first solo exhibition in 1991, his work has been presented at major international contemporary art fairs and is held in collections such as the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma.
A member of the Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Sebastià since 2008, Fabré has spent more than three decades developing a distinctive artistic language in which geometric abstraction, the lyrical qualities of matter, and the exploration of colour form the foundations of a continuously evolving practice.
